Could kids beat infections with half the antibiotics?

NCT ID NCT07322146

Summary

This study aims to find out if a shorter, 5-day course of antibiotics works just as well as a standard 10-day course for children hospitalized with common infections like pneumonia, skin infections, or urinary tract infections. About 1,200 children will be randomly assigned to receive either 5 or 10 days of treatment, and researchers will track their recovery and any side effects. The goal is to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use, which can cause side effects and other problems, while still effectively treating the infection.
