Sound waves used to crack open clogged heart arteries

NCT ID NCT05966662

Summary

This study tested a medical device that uses gentle sound waves (lithotripsy) to break up hard calcium deposits inside heart arteries. The goal was to safely open these hardened arteries so a stent could be placed more effectively. It involved 145 adults with coronary artery disease who had these specific calcified blockages.
