Shock waves may speed up ACL rehab, new study hopes to prove

Summary

This study looks at whether adding focused shock wave therapy to standard physical therapy helps people recover better after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. About 32 adults aged 18 to 45 with a first-time ACL tear will take part. One group gets usual rehab twice a week, while the other also gets low-intensity shock waves once a week. Researchers will measure muscle strength, balance, movement, pain, and daily function to see if the extra treatment makes a difference.
