Summary
This large study in Finland is testing whether the Shingrix vaccine, which prevents shingles, can also reduce the risk of developing dementia in adults aged 76 and older. About 33,600 participants will receive either the vaccine or a placebo and be monitored for new dementia diagnoses over time. The goal is to see if this common vaccine offers an unexpected brain health benefit.
