Could shingles pain signal future dementia risk?
NCT ID NCT07399288
Summary
This study looked at whether people who develop long-lasting nerve pain after a shingles outbreak are more likely to be diagnosed with dementia later on. Researchers analyzed the health records of nearly 69,000 adults who had shingles, comparing those who got this chronic pain to those who did not. The goal was to understand if this specific complication of shingles could be a warning sign for future brain health issues.
