Night shift gut mystery: scientists probe hidden health link

NCT ID NCT03221517

Summary

This study aims to understand why night shift workers have higher risks for diseases like diabetes and heart problems by looking at their gut bacteria. Researchers will compare 12 healthy male night shift workers with daytime workers, tracking their daily rhythms, diet, sleep, and body measurements using phone apps and sensors. The goal is to see if disrupted gut bacteria from irregular schedules contributes to health risks, which could help design better work schedules in the future.
