New study tests herbal vs standard drug for chemo side effect in breast cancer

NCT ID NCT07578064

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares two treatments—Shengbai Oral Liquid (a herbal remedy) and Leucogen tablets (a standard drug)—for moderate neutropenia (low white blood cells) caused by anti-tumor drugs in breast cancer patients. Sixty participants will be randomly assigned to receive one treatment during their first chemotherapy cycle and the other during their second cycle. The goal is to see which treatment better maintains white blood cell counts and reduces the need for additional medications.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Shengbai Oral Liquid and Leucogen tablets

What this could lead to

If this trial shows Shengbai Oral Liquid works better than Leucogen, it could offer a new option for managing low white blood cell counts in breast cancer patients on chemotherapy.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Both treatments are already approved, so the study is comparing them rather than testing a new cure.
