New therapy targets shame to help teens at risk of suicide
NCT ID NCT07294001
Summary
This small pilot study is testing a new type of talk therapy designed to help suicidal teenagers in a psychiatric hospital. The therapy focuses on reducing feelings of shame, which researchers believe is a key driver of suicidal thoughts and actions. About 42 teens will receive either this new shame-focused therapy or standard supportive counseling to see if the new approach is practical and shows early signs of helping.
