Hope-Focused therapy may help young cancer survivors cope

NCT ID NCT06941324

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jul 17, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether a short, hope-based therapy called solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) can reduce psychological distress in adolescents and young adults who have had cancer. About 60 survivors aged 15-39 with mild to moderate distress will receive either SFBT or enhanced usual care. The goal is to see if SFBT improves emotional well-being and quality of life.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT-C)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a short, hope-based therapy option to ease anxiety and depression in young cancer survivors.
What could go wrong
This is a small early-stage trial (60 participants) testing a behavioral intervention, so results may not apply broadly. The therapy may not outperform usual care.
