New nerve block may ease pain of chest tube insertion in ICU

Summary

This study compares a newer type of nerve block (serratus plane block) to standard local anesthesia for pain control during chest tube placement in intensive care patients. About 70 awake, non-intubated adults will be enrolled. The goal is to see if the nerve block reduces pain scores during the procedure.
