Massive study tracks deadly infections to find better ways to fight them
NCT ID NCT03379402
Summary
This study aimed to understand severe infections (sepsis) that people get outside the hospital in Thailand. Researchers observed over 1,000 adult patients to test a new medical definition for sepsis and to find out what germs cause it and what factors lead to better or worse outcomes. They collected samples and tracked patients' health for 28 days to gather this information.
