ER nurses to check tiny blood vessels in sepsis patients to prevent worsening

NCT ID NCT06910891

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether nurses measuring blood flow in tiny vessels (microcirculation) can help treat sepsis patients earlier in the emergency room. Sepsis is a serious infection that can quickly get worse, even when standard vital signs look normal. The study will include 556 adults with suspected sepsis and track whether this extra check reduces complications like low blood pressure, need for a breathing machine, or death.
