Finger-Prick test could spot deadly sepsis faster

NCT ID NCT02180399

Summary

This study tested whether a simple, quick finger-prick test to measure lactate (a marker of stress in the body) could help doctors identify sepsis earlier in patients outside the intensive care unit. It involved 60 adult patients showing signs of possible infection. The goal was to see if this easier test could help spot which patients were developing serious sepsis and needed more intensive care sooner.
