First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding two steroids (hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone) to standard care can reduce death or long-term organ failure in adults with sepsis. About 1,800 ICU patients will be randomly assigned to receive the steroid combination or a placebo. The main goal is to see if the treatment improves survival and helps patients recover without needing machines to breathe or support their kidneys or blood pressure.
