Phone Check-Ins could prevent falls during chemo
NCT ID NCT05330104
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether brief smartphone surveys can help detect early signs of fall risk in people receiving chemotherapy that can cause nerve damage. Twelve cancer patients used a mobile app to report symptoms like numbness or tingling in their legs. The goal was to see if patients would stick with the surveys and find them useful, not to treat the nerve damage itself.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Mobile Ecological Momentary Assessment (mEMA) surveys
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could help identify patients at risk of falling early, allowing them to get rehab and continue life-saving chemotherapy.
What could go wrong
This is a very small feasibility study with only 12 participants. It does not test a treatment, only a monitoring method, so it may not lead to direct patient benefits.
