Could less surgery be just as good for breast cancer in the lymph nodes?
NCT ID NCT06869629
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study looks at women with breast cancer that has spread to lymph nodes under the arm, found by ultrasound before surgery. Normally, doctors remove many lymph nodes, which can cause arm swelling and pain. The trial will check if removing only the first few affected nodes (sentinel nodes and known cancerous nodes) is just as good for survival and causes fewer side effects. About 1,380 patients will take part to compare the two approaches.
