New study seeks better ways to spot lung infections in CF
NCT ID NCT07312734
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looks for new methods to find harmful bacteria in the lungs of people with cystic fibrosis (CF). Currently, doctors rely on sputum (mucus) samples, but newer CF treatments make it hard to produce sputum. The study will collect samples like saliva, blood, urine, and breath from 300 participants to test if these can reliably detect lung germs.
