First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This early-stage trial tests whether a surgically implanted device that stimulates specific brain networks can safely reduce chronic nerve pain. Twenty adults with conditions like postherpetic neuralgia or central pain will undergo surgery to place the stimulator and then compare pain levels with stimulation on versus off. The main goal is to see if the procedure is feasible and acceptable for patients.
