First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This early-stage study tests a brain stimulation technique for people with long-term nerve pain that hasn't responded to other treatments. About 20 adults with conditions like post-shingles pain or phantom limb pain will receive an implanted device that stimulates specific brain networks. The main goal is to see if the procedure is feasible and if it can reduce pain compared to a sham (inactive) stimulation.
