First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a weekly injection of semaglutide can help preserve the body's ability to make insulin and reduce fat buildup in the liver. It involves 60 obese youth with prediabetes or early type 2 diabetes who also have fatty liver disease. Participants receive the drug or a placebo for 6 months, and researchers measure changes in insulin function and liver fat using special tests and MRI scans.
