Diabetes drug tested to fight dangerous lung clots

NCT ID NCT06118203

Summary

This small, completed study explored whether adding the diabetes medication semaglutide to standard blood thinners could help patients recover from a serious lung clot (pulmonary embolism). Researchers tested the drug in 18 hospitalized patients to see if it reduced blood vessel inflammation and helped the body clear the clot. The goal was to see if this approach could lead to better long-term outcomes for a condition that currently has limited treatment options beyond blood thinners.
