NCT ID NCT07218354

Summary

This study is testing if semaglutide, a medication currently used for diabetes and weight loss, can help U.S. veterans with moderate to severe alcohol use disorder. About 440 veterans will receive either the real medication or a placebo injection weekly for 28 weeks to see if it helps them significantly cut back on drinking. The goal is to find a new, more effective treatment option for a condition that affects many veterans but has seen few new medications in nearly 20 years.
