New drug cocktail aims to outsmart recurrent glioblastoma
NCT ID NCT05432804
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Aug 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding the drug selinexor to standard chemotherapy (temozolomide) can better control recurrent glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. About 97 adults whose tumor has returned after initial treatment will receive either the combo or chemotherapy alone. The goal is to find the safest dose and see if the combination improves time without tumor growth.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- selinexor and temozolomide
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this combination could offer a new treatment option that slows or shrinks recurrent glioblastoma tumors better than standard chemotherapy alone.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-phase trial (phase 1/2) with only 97 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Selinexor can cause side effects like nausea, fatigue, and low blood counts.
