New wrap aims to fix a major problem for dialysis patients

Summary
This study is testing a new, dissolvable wrap called SelfWrap that is placed around a surgically created blood vessel connection (fistula) used for dialysis. The goal is to see if the wrap helps the fistula develop properly and last longer while reducing complications, compared to standard surgery. About 600 adults with advanced kidney disease who need a new fistula will be followed for three years to compare the two approaches.
