Patients take oxygen into their own hands before surgery
NCT ID NCT06361693
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study looked at whether patients can effectively give themselves extra oxygen (preoxygenation) before surgery by holding the mask themselves, instead of having a doctor or nurse do it. The study included 110 adults scheduled for surgery under general anesthesia. Researchers measured oxygen levels and anxiety to see if this self-preoxygenation approach works well.
