Ancient chinese practices tested for cancer survivor symptoms

NCT ID NCT06497582

First seen Jun 26, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This pilot study tested whether self-acupressure (pressing specific points on the body) or Zhan Zhuang (a gentle standing meditation) can reduce pain, fatigue, and sleep problems in breast cancer survivors. Fifty women who had finished early-stage breast cancer treatment and still had moderate symptoms took part. They were split into three groups: Zhan Zhuang practice, self-acupressure, or a waitlist. The study measured symptoms after 8 weeks of practice and again 4 weeks later.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer breast cancer survivors a simple, drug-free way to manage common after-treatment symptoms like pain, tiredness, and poor sleep.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 50 participants and no blinding, so results may not be reliable or apply to everyone. The benefits may be due to placebo or extra attention.
