Pressing points to lower pressure: Self-Acupressure tested for hypertension
NCT ID NCT07577973
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a simple self-acupressure routine can help lower blood pressure and reduce stress in people with high blood pressure. Seventy-two adults with primary hypertension will be split into three groups: real acupressure, sham (fake) acupressure, or usual care. The treatment lasts only 2 weeks, and researchers will measure changes in blood pressure, stress levels, and well-being.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
self-acupressure (behavioral intervention)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to help manage blood pressure and stress at home.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, short-term study (2 weeks, 72 people) that hasn't started yet. Results may not apply to everyone, and the effect may be small or no better than sham acupressure.
