Brain monitor could cut sedation drugs for heart surgery patients

NCT ID NCT07350122

Summary

This study tests whether using a brain monitor to guide sedation can reduce sedative medication in adults recovering from heart surgery in intensive care. About 144 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either standard sedation or sedation guided by the brain monitor. Researchers will compare medication doses, breathing tube time, hospital stay, and complications like pneumonia and confusion.
