This study looks at whether a sedative called dexmedetomidine helps older patients (65+) on breathing machines in the ICU survive longer and have fewer complications like delirium. About 300 participants will receive either the drug or a placebo. The goal is to improve comfort and outcomes in this vulnerable group.
