Could a drug combo make sleep apnea scopes easier?
NCT ID NCT06784479
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether combining two sedatives, remimazolam and propofol, works better than propofol alone or with midazolam during a procedure called drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) for people with obstructive sleep apnea. The goal is to see if the combo leads to more successful sedation with fewer side effects. About 174 adults with sleep apnea will take part.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Remimazolam and Propofol
What this could lead to
If successful, this could identify a safer, more effective sedation method for diagnosing sleep apnea, improving patient comfort and procedure success.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center phase 4 trial focused on sedation during a diagnostic procedure, not a treatment for sleep apnea itself. Results may not apply to other settings or populations.
