New radiation approach offers hope to avoid mastectomy when breast cancer returns

NCT ID NCT04371913

Summary

This study is testing whether targeted radiation therapy can safely give breast cancer patients a second chance to keep their breast when cancer returns after previous lumpectomy and radiation. The research involves 120 patients who will receive carefully planned radiation to specific areas of the breast. The main goal is to see if this approach causes acceptable side effects while controlling the cancer and preventing the need for mastectomy.
