Researchers probe hormone link in scarring disease

NCT ID NCT04746313

Summary

This study aimed to understand how common high levels of a hormone called prolactin are in people with systemic scleroderma, a disease that causes hardening and scarring of skin and internal organs. Researchers compared 71 scleroderma patients to healthy volunteers to see if high prolactin was more frequent and if it was linked to specific symptoms. The goal was to gather knowledge about the disease, not to test a treatment.
