First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study aimed to see if ultrasound could help doctors better understand piriformis syndrome, a condition where a muscle in the buttock presses on the sciatic nerve and causes leg pain. Researchers measured the thickness of the sciatic nerve and piriformis muscle on both the painful and pain-free sides in 19 people. The goal was to learn more about the condition and improve diagnosis.
