Summary

This study tests a program where children with asthma take their daily medicine at school, supervised by staff. The goal is to see if this helps more children take their medicine correctly and reduces asthma attacks. The trial will include 300 children in Rochester, New York, and compare the school-based program to usual care.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

School-based asthma therapy program (behavioral intervention)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could show that giving asthma medicine at school helps children stay healthier and reduces hospital visits.

What could go wrong

This is a behavioral program, not a new drug, so it may not work for all children. The trial hasn't started yet and results will take time.
