First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 39 times

Summary

This pilot study tested whether a short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) supplement, taken by mouth, could change the gut bacteria and immune system in people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who did not get enough help from methotrexate. Twenty participants took the supplement for one month, and researchers measured changes in their gut microbiome and immune cells. The goal was to gather early information, not to prove a treatment works.
