New study tests trick to make surgery scars less noticeable

NCT ID NCT05758181

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at a way to possibly reduce scarring after surgery on the neck, trunk, arms, or legs. The technique, called "undermining," involves loosening the skin near the wound tips to reduce tension. Half of each wound will get this extra step, and the other half will not, so doctors can compare the final scar appearance. The goal is to see if this simple change leads to better-looking scars.
