Radiation or knife? landmark trial to settle best treatment for small liver tumors

NCT ID NCT07381660

First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study compares two treatments for small liver cancer (a single tumor 5 cm or smaller): surgery to remove the tumor or a precise, high-dose radiation therapy called SBRT. About 312 adults aged 18-75 will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. The main goal is to see which approach helps people live longer, and to compare side effects and tumor control.
