Could muscle loss predict Chemo's painful side effects?

NCT ID NCT06996548

Summary

This study aimed to understand if having low muscle mass (sarcopenia) before treatment makes breast cancer patients more likely to develop nerve damage from a common chemotherapy drug called paclitaxel. Researchers followed 120 early-stage breast cancer patients in Turkey, measuring their muscle from CT scans and tracking nerve symptoms before and after chemo. The goal was to identify patients at higher risk so doctors can better monitor and manage this painful side effect.
