Sarcoma surgery debate: is removing the biopsy tract necessary?
NCT ID NCT07575724
First seen May 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looks at whether it's safe to leave the needle biopsy tract in place during surgery for extremity sarcoma. Currently, surgeons often remove the tract to prevent cancer cells from spreading, but this may not be necessary. The trial will compare cancer recurrence rates in 3,300 patients who either have the tract removed or left intact, aiming to see if skipping removal is just as safe.
