Scientists dive deep into immune cells to unravel sarcoidosis mysteries

NCT ID NCT05916638

First seen Mar 05, 2026 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at how certain immune cells (monocytes and macrophages) behave in people with sarcoidosis, a disease that causes inflammation and lumps called granulomas. Researchers will compare these cells in sarcoidosis patients to those with tuberculosis. The goal is to learn what keeps these cells overactive, which could lead to better treatments in the future. No new treatments are tested—this is a research-only study.
