Scientists test how your genes react to salt to unlock high blood pressure secrets

NCT ID NCT01426529

Summary

This study aims to understand why some people develop high blood pressure and heart disease by looking at how their genes and body respond to different amounts of salt. Researchers will enroll 120 adults with mild to moderate high blood pressure, temporarily adjust their medications, and monitor their heart and blood vessel function while they follow low-salt and high-salt diets. The goal is to learn more about the genetic and hormonal factors that control blood pressure, not to test a new treatment.
