Spit test trial aims to track hidden virus in cancer patients

NCT ID NCT06870539

Summary

This study tested whether a simple saliva sample, collected at home, could be used to track cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in people being treated for ovarian cancer. Researchers compared virus levels in saliva to standard blood tests in 49 participants. The goal was to see if remote, at-home monitoring is a practical and accurate option for patients.
