First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at whether certain substances in saliva can help tell the difference between healthy gums, gingivitis (early gum disease), and periodontitis (advanced gum disease). Researchers collected saliva from 60 non-smoking, healthy adults and measured levels of three markers. The goal was to see if these markers could be used for easier, non-invasive diagnosis in the future.
