Sailing therapy boosts resilience in kids with autism?
NCT ID NCT06575244
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This pilot study tested whether a nurse-led community sailing program could improve resilience, quality of life, and mood in 36 school-aged children with autism. Children in the sailing group took part in 24 hours of sailing over six days, while a control group did simple crafts. The study aims to see if sailing is a feasible and acceptable way to support children with autism, but it is too small to draw firm conclusions.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a fun, community-based activity to help children with autism build resilience and improve well-being.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study (36 children) with no blinding, so results may not be reliable or generalizable. The intervention is short-term and may not produce lasting effects.
