VA study aims to stop risky meds for seniors in emergency rooms
NCT ID NCT04004936
Summary
This study tested two different feedback methods to help emergency department doctors prescribe safer medications to veterans aged 65 and older. Researchers compared active coaching versus passive reports to see which approach better reduced prescriptions for medications that can be harmful to older adults. The goal was to find the most effective way to protect older patients from dangerous drug side effects when they leave the emergency room.
