New combo could cut bleeding and recovery time after heart procedure

NCT ID NCT06549842

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This completed study tested two strategies to reduce bleeding and artery blockage after a common heart procedure. 451 patients received either a standard or lower dose of heparin and a different compression band. The goal was to see if the new approach could shorten recovery and lower complications.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Heparin

What this could lead to

If successful, this approach could shorten recovery time and lower the risk of bleeding and artery blockage after heart catheterization.

What could go wrong

This is a completed trial, but results are not yet published. The lower heparin dose might not prevent clotting as well, and the new band may not work for everyone.
