Blood test may predict epilepsy after first seizure

NCT ID NCT02424123

Summary

This study aimed to find out if measuring a protein called S100B in the blood right after a person's first seizure could help doctors predict if they would have more seizures in the next year. Researchers enrolled 37 adults who had just experienced their first seizure to track their S100B levels and see if they had a seizure recurrence. The goal was to gather knowledge to help future diagnosis, not to treat the participants.
