Magnetic pulses target depression in autistic youth

NCT ID NCT04972136

Summary

This study is testing whether a non-invasive brain stimulation treatment called rTMS can help reduce symptoms of depression in young people (ages 16-35) who also have autism. Participants will receive either the real magnetic stimulation treatment or a sham (placebo) version for 6 weeks to see if it improves their mood and reduces suicidal thoughts. The goal is to find a new, well-tolerated treatment option for a group that currently lacks evidence-based therapies for depression.
