First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether community health worker counseling and text message reminders can increase RSV vaccination among Latino adults aged 50 and older in San Francisco and Daly City. Researchers will also see if younger adults can encourage their older friends and family to get vaccinated. The goal is to find simple, community-based ways to improve vaccine uptake and prevent severe RSV illness.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
community health worker counseling and text message reminders
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show a practical way to boost RSV vaccination rates in underserved communities, potentially preventing severe respiratory illness.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral study, not a drug trial. Success depends on whether reminders and counseling actually change behavior, and results may not apply outside this specific community.
