First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether robot-assisted leg exercises can prevent older patients from losing strength and independence during a hospital stay. 488 patients aged 65 and older will either receive robot-guided training or standard care. The goal is to see if the robot helps them walk and do daily tasks better after discharge.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Robot-assisted physical training (ROBERT® robot)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could offer a way to help older patients maintain their ability to walk and perform daily activities during hospital stays.
- What could go wrong
- This is a single trial in Denmark, and results may not apply to all hospitals or patients. The robot training is additional to standard care, so benefits may be small.
